When the idea of starting a wine & spirits wholesale company first crossed our minds it was both exciting and overwhelming. This industry is filled with companies of all sizes with a history dating back decades and decades. So how was this new startup going to make an impact? Our mission, make it about the experience.

We start with the name, Brands of Portugal. The name tells you our focus without distractions. We do not carry wine from Napa, France, Italy, or Chile. We do not carry spirits from London, Mexico, China, or Brazil. We exclusively represent wine producers and distilleries from Portugal. Portugal is part of our heritage and our hearts.

Now that that’s out of the way, we get into details. To have an ambitious goal and to succeed with it you have to have people to walk beside you with a common vision. That’s where the research in finding the best producer partners came into play and honestly, we could not be more thrilled with the people that have accepted our invitations.

Upon reviewing our family of producers you will find companies of all sizes from regions throughout Portugal. Each creates products that are of really incredible quality in each of their ranges, and also many that are unique. Most of their locations are nestled in areas that should be on top-secret must-see travel lists they’re so spectacular.

Beyond the products they produce, the people are the really special part that brings everything full circle. Listening to them as they tell us about the history of each winery or distillery and where they want to go next. Understanding the labor-intensive work that goes into each of these products and seeing the excitement in their faces as they talk about the end result of that is all so invigorating.

We’ve discussed the producers and products but what if you know nothing about what we're talking about yet and want to be part of this experience? That's where we knew having educators on our team was crucial. We searched for a team that had unique skills to complement each other and collaboratively offer a rounded outlet for beginners to experienced consumers. This is getting fun!

Now to put the true spin on it from our past experience, we need to bring in events to really showcase everything. Tasting events in our private event space, monthly nights out at our local restaurant clients, and larger quarterly events to really build a community around what we're doing will be a staple in our company.

Our company is built on the foundation of good people. We want to represent good people, we want to surround ourselves with good people and we will try our hardest to be the best we can be on this journey and help others along the way.
